The Bard College women's soccer team, which has played a strong non-league schedule so far this season, had a little more room to work against Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Tuesday. The result was a dominant 2-0 victory, which snapped a five-game losing streak for the Raptors.

The star of the game turned out to be MCLA's sophomore keeper, Danielle Heinsohn (Norfolk, MA), who made several stellar saves and kept the game relatively close throughout.

After a few good early chances, Bard (4-5) broke through in the 14th minute, when freshman Abbey Labrecque found sophomore Alana Shaw right in front, and Shaw blasted home a shot that Heinsohn got a piece of for a 1-0 lead.

About four minutes later, Maddy Huggins scored off a beautiful cross from freshman Sylvia Kool, who ripped a low pass from the wing to Huggins, who was right on the doorstep and tapped it in.

After that, it was all Heinsohn. Bard outshot MCLA 29-3, with Heinsohn making 13 saves.

MCLA (3-5) was unable to produce much offense. Lena James made three saves for the Raptors.

Bard begins a stretch of eight straight Liberty League games on Friday afternoon. The league opener will be at home against Clarkson at 4, then Bard will host St. Lawrence on Saturday at 2.
