Women's soccer team falls at Mount Saint Mary, 3-1

Box Score ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - A freshman phenom got the best of Bard on Wednesday night.

Mount Saint Mary College freshman Shanice Robe (Valley Stream, NY) scored twice in the first half and led the Knights to a 3-1 victory over Bard in a non-league contest.

Robe has seven of the Knights' eight goals so far this season.

Robe beat a couple of defenders in the penalty area and gave Mount Saint Mary a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute. About 10 minutes later, the Knights scored two goals 20 seconds apart, the first by Robe, the second by freshman Casey Collins (Belle Harbor, NY), and it was 3-0.

Bard freshman Sylvia Estes got the Raptors on the board in the 43rd minute on an assist from fellow freshman Mady Calhoun. It was Estes' first collegiate goal. But the Raptors were outshot, 8-2, in the second half and fall to 3-2 with the loss.

Lena James and Ryan O'Connell split the goaltending duties; James made no saves and O'Connell made four. Bard next game is on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at SUNY New Paltz.
