Bard's early lead eliminated by Clarkson

Bard sophomore Stephanie LaMont scored twice, but Bard lost to Clarkson, 19-4, on Friday.
Box Score POTSDAM, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but Clarkson scored the next 15 goals en route to a 19-4 Liberty League victory on Friday afternoon.

Bard sophomores Stephanie LaMont and Victoria Fleisher put the Raptors up, 2-0, just 3:47 into the game, but the Golden Knights scored five goals over the next three-and-a-half minutes and never looked back. It was 10-2 at halftime, and 15-2 by the time Bard scored again.

Clarkson, 6-8 overall and 2-6 in the Liberty League, got six goals and an assist from junior Alyssa Cristaldi (North Syracuse, NY). The Golden Knights peppered first-time Bard goalie Simone Leitner - who was replacing injured starter Maddy Huggins - with 36 shots. It is the most shots Bard has faced in a game this year.

LaMont finished with two goals, and freshman Reed Mango also scored later in the game. Leitner finished with nine saves.

The Raptors (5-10, 0-8) finish the 2012 season with a game at St. Lawrence University on Saturday at 3.
