Bard holds off Pine Manor, 74-64

Freshman Bianka Bell scored 11 of her team-high 19 points in the second half as Bard rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat Pine Manor College on Sunday.
Box Score CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Freshmen Bianka Bell and Tytravia Riley led a second-half surge that carried the Bard College women's basketball team to a 74-64 victory over Pine Manor College on Sunday, snapping a two-game losing streak.

Bard (6-2) was up by as much at nine in the first half, but the Gators (2-6) outscored the Raptors 22-9 over the final 10 minutes of the half and led at the break, 34-32.

The Raptors went on an 18-6 run over the first five minutes of the second half, and the lead grew to 15 with 13 minutes left in the game. Pine Manor chipped away and eventually cut the edge to 68-62 with 3:15 remaining, but a layup by Bell and four straight free throws by Joanna Regan put the game away.

Four Bard players finished in double figures, led by Bell and Riley, who did most of their damage in the second half. Bell had 11 of her team-high 19 points after halftime, and Riley had 12 of her 14 points in the final 20 minutes. Riley also had 20 rebounds and went 8-for-8 from the foul line. Sophomore Liz Freud had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, and senior Imani Jones scored 14 points.

Pine Manor got 22 points and nine rebounds from sophomore Natasia Franklin (Windsor, CT), and 20 points from freshman Alexis Lee (Akron, OH).

Bard has one game remaining before winter break. The Raptors will host Purchase College on Saturday at 2. That game can be followed right here via Live Stats and Live Video.

Liberty League play will begin the weekend of Jan. 4-5, at Union and Skidmore, respectively.
