FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - Bard's two golden scoring opportunities were missed, and Farmingdale's one chance at a golden goal didn't, so the Bard women's soccer team is 0-2.
Freshman midfielder Sam Johrdan (Deer Park, NY) scored 27 seconds into the second overtime to lift Farmingdale State over Bard, 1-0, on the first day of the Farmingdale State Tournament.
The Rams (2-0) had the edge in possession, shots (13-5) and corners (6-4), but Bard had two solid chances to score before overtime ever arrived. Late in the first half,
Erica Newton had a good opportunity with the goalie out of position, but her shot was blocked by a Farmingdale State defender.
Later, in the 86th minute, freshman
Alana Shaw created a breakaway and missed an open shot to the right to keep the score knotted at 0-0.
Freshman goalie Jenn Osher made six saves for Bard, which will play Ursinus on Day 2 of the tournament Sunday at 5.
