ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - In a hard-fought opening game, the Bard College women's soccer team gave up two second-half goals and lost to Mount Saint Mary College, 2-0, in a non-conference game on Thursday night.

The game was scoreless for 75 minutes, although the Raptors hit the post once, and the Knights hit the post and the crossbar before finally breaking through.

Mount Saint Mary College sophomore Sara Sheehan (Wappingers Falls, NY) received an excellent give-and-go pass from freshman Vanessa DiSilvio (Massapequa, NY) and put on a burst of speed to break in alone and beat Bard's freshman goalie, Jenn Osher, to the far post.

About four minutes later, freshman Marissa Segreto (West Islip, NY) hooked a high, left-footed shot that got over Osher's head and tucked inside the far post.

Mount Saint Mary (1-0) outshot Bard, 15-10. The Knights host Albertus Magnus on Saturday.

Osher made seven saves in her collegiate debut for Bard (0-1). The Raptors will play in the Farmingdale State Tournament this weekend, taking on the hosts on Saturday at 1, then Ursinus on Sunday at 5.
