ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's tennis team got back on the court for the first time since October and lost a non-conference match against RPI on Thursday night, 7-2.
Some schools have their women's tennis schedules bridge the winter, meaning that the season is played in the fall and spring, and RPI is one of those schools. The Engineers, 11-3, won two of three doubles matches and five of six singles matches.
Bard freshman
Julia DeFabo had a good night for the Raptors, 8-4 overall. DeFabo teamed with fellow freshman
Jean Wong to win at No. 2 doubles, 8-2. Then DeFabo defeated RPI sophomore Brianna Dickie at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 5-7 and 11-9 in a super-tiebreaker.
The Raptors hadn't played since Oct. 23, the day they lost the Skyline Conference championship match to Mount Saint Mary College. Beginning next fall, Bard will join RPI in the Liberty League.
