Box Score THROGGS NECK, N.Y. - Last season, there were a lot of 'firsts' for the women's lacrosse program at Bard College.
First season as a varsity program. First win.
This year, the 'firsts' are being elevated a bit. On Saturday, Bard rallied to defeat SUNY Maritime, 13-11, for the first two-game winning streak in program history.
A goal by Bard freshman
Stephanie LaMont (Skippack, Pa.) with 8:03 left in the game - her fifth goal of the game - broke a 10-10 tie and completed a rally from a 6-4 halftime deficit.
SUNY Maritime (1-8 overall, 0-5 Skyline) had a 4-1 lead after 14 minutes and it looked like the Privateers were headed for their first Skyline Conference victory of the season. But LaMont, junior
Kim Larie (Londonderry, N.H.) and junior
Farah Akhtar (Karachi, Pakistan) each scored before halftime to keep the game close at 6-4.
LaMont and junior
Jessica Philpott (Hot Springs, Va.) each scored to start the second half to make it 6-6, and it stayed a one-goal game until freshman
Brianna Bean (Kaneohe, Hi.) scored to make it 12-10 with 3:13 left in the game.
LaMont finished with five goals and an assist for Bard, 3-4 overall, 2-2 in the Skyline Conference. Larie, Bean and Akhtar each scored twice - Bean also had an assist - and Philpott and sophomore
