Box Score YONKERS, N.Y. - For the second straight game, the Bard College women's lacrosse team gave up a bunch of early goals and struggled offensively.
This time, it was an 18-1 loss to Mount St. Vincent on Monday night. Last time, it was a 12-1 loss to Ramapo on Saturday.
On Monday, Mount St. Vincent scored five goals in the first 10 minutes and thoroughly dominated the game. The Dolphins got five goals in the first half from senior Jessie Mitchell (Suffern, N.Y.) and led 14-0 at halftime. Mitchell finished with seven goals and four assists - and also a game-leading eight ground balls.
Mount St. Vincent (6-7 overall, 4-4 Skyline) finished with a 35-11 advantage in ground balls, a 30-6 edge in shots, and held Bard to just 2-of-8 on clear attempts.
Bard (3-8, 2-6 Skyline) didn't score until it was 16-0. Sophomore
Bridget Reddington (Caldwell, N.J.) broke up the shutout with a goal off a free position attempt with about seven minutes left in the game. Senior
Hannah Becker (Wayne, Pa.) made nine saves. Bard has lost four in a row.
Bard's final game of the 2011 season will be on Thursday night when the Raptors host SUNY New Paltz in a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
