Bard smothered by Vassar, 12-2

Box Score POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team struggled to get going offensively on Thursday and lost a non-conference game to local rival Vassar, 12-2.

The Brewers (2-2 overall) had a commanding advantage in faceoffs (15-1) and ground balls (37-12) in a dominant victory. Vassar had a 9-0 lead at halftime and finished with a 31-8 edge in shots.

Vassar was led by senior midfielder Allie Morgan (Nashua, N.H.), who had three goals, and senior attack Moe Byrne (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), who had two goals and an assist. Six different other Vassar players scored a goal apiece.

Bard (1-2 overall) got a goal apiece from junior Farah Akhtar (Karachi, Pakistan) and freshman Stephanie LaMont (Skippack, Pa.). Freshman Nadine Muniz (Washington Heights, N.Y.) added an assist.

Senior goalie Hannah Becker (Wayne, Pa.) made 11 saves for the Raptors, who next play on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. against Kean University at Dietz Stadium in Kingston.
