ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College Men's Basketball Alumni games turned out to be thrillers last weekend.

In the first game, which pitted the current team against a team of alumni, the alumni jumped out to an 18-6 lead, then faded a bit as the teams went into halftime tied at 23-23.

The current players used a 9-2 run to start the second half, but the alumni rallied and held a three-point lead in the final seconds, before Yonah Greenstein hit a 3-pointer to tie it with eight seconds left. With less than a second left in regulation time, 2011 graduate Christian Marghella missed a pair of free throws and the game went to overtime.

In the overtime, Jeremy Arnstein and Pat Lichtenstein hit big 3-pointers and the current players pulled away for an 81-74 victory. Si Burnette had 10 of his 12 points in the second half, and Chris McNaughton had 12 of his 13 in the second half for the current players.

Justin White led the alumni with 14 points, while Marghella and Collin Orcutt added 12 apiece.

The second game pitted a pair of alumni teams against each other. The White Team was coached by current players Frank Stortini and Jeremy Arnstein; the Black Team was coached by current players Yonah Greenstein and Matt Shubert.

Current Bard coach Adam Turner had 18 in the first half to lead the Black Team to a 41-32 halftime lead, but the White Team game out gunning in the second half, hitting seven 3-pointers. With less than a minute to go, Turner made a 3-pointer to tie, and Orcutt missed a shot at the buzzer, sending the game to overtime.

The Black Team scored fastbreak hoops on its first three possessions of overtime and won the gae, 89-81. Turner led all scorers with 34 points and Alexei Phillips added 15 for the Black Team; White had 20 and Orcutt added 15 for the White Team.
