Williams scores 1,000th career point in loss

Bard's Latiqua Williams is now the school's career leader in points, rebounds and steals.
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Bard College senior Latiqua Williams scored her 1,000th point and broke the all-time rebounding record, but the Raptors lost to Vassar College, 68-27, in a non-conference game on Wednesday night.

Vassar freshman Hannah Senftleber (Burlington, VT) - the Brewers' third-leading scorer going into the game - had the game of her early collegiate career with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Fellow freshman Cyndi Matsuoka (Sacramento, CA) and junior Brittany Parks (Escondido, CA) added 18 and 17 points, respectively.

Bard, 2-7 overall, had another poor shooting night, making just 22 percent of its shots, including 0-for-12 from beyond the three-point line.

Williams scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds - giving her 1,000 career points and 870 rebounds - two more rebounds than the previous record-holder in that category, Emma Kreyche. She broke the all-time scoring record in Bard's previous game against Farmingdale State College.

Sophomore Imani Jones (Brooklyn, NY) chipped in with four points and seven rebounds.

Bard will join Vassar (4-5 overall) in the Liberty League next season. The Raptors play Skyline Conference foe St. Joseph's College on Saturday in a road contest.
