ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's basketball team limited Yeshiva University to 3-of-14 shooting and just nine points in the second half en route to its first win of the season, 50-28, over the Maccabees.
It was also the first win for Bard's first-year coach, Sarah Lombard.
After Yeshiva trimmed an 11-point halftime deficit to eight, Bard went on a 16-0 run that spanned almost 11 minutes in the second half, effectively putting the game away. Bard's pressure defense forced 35 Yeshiva turnovers and allowed the Raptors to collect 23 steals.
Ten different players scored for Bard, led by senior
Latiqua Williams (Bay Shore, NY), who finished with 11 points, five rebounds and seven steals. Freshmen Imani Jones (Brooklyn, NY) and
Amy Strawbridge (Indianapolis, IN) added six points apiece, and Jones grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
Yeshiva, 0-4 in the Skyline and overall, got 15 points for senior Shir Fuchs (Herzilyah, Israel).
The Bard women next host the College of New Rochelle on Tuesday at 6.
