The Bard College women's soccer team dropped a Friday afternoon game to the Kean Cougars at Rutgers-Newark's Frederick Douglass Field.
Bard had the game's first corner in the 3rd minute, but Isabella Vinces's long-range shot was saved. It would be Bard's only shot on target in the first half. The Cougars scored early on, as a floating shot from the left side went over Thayden Hamilton-Howard's outstretched arms and into the net. Kean scored four additional goals in the half, with three coming in the final 4:05 of the period.
After stopping a series of attacks to begin the second half, the Raptors had a chance at scoring in the 69th minute. Georgia McCauley intercepted a pass, then sent the ball ahead of a running Nikki Magnozzi, who had a good look but couldn't get enough power behind it. Kean closed Bard out with a pair of goals at the 75:23 mark and the 77:00 mark.
Thayden Hamiton-Howard picked up two saves, while Goldie Siff recorded 90 minutes.
Bard faces Rutgers-Newark at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
