The Bard College men's soccer team defeated Morrisville 2-0 on Saturday afternoon on the road.
The Raptors had the rare half in which they were outshot 8-6 but outscored the Mustangs 2-0. They put three shots on goal compared to Morrisville's two.
Wolfe Ginsberg scored his first collegiate goal via a header off a corner, assisted by
Emmett Olson's long cross.
Aren Andrews picked up a magnificent assist with six minutes remaining in the half, finding
Benett Hathaway with a massive cross, allowing a well-timed header into the back of the net.
At the 57:14 mark,
Henry Skeltis beat the keeper with a well placed touch, but a trailing defender affected the one-on-one shot enough to make Skeltis push the shot wide. With 15 minutes remaining, a Morrisville winger got a step on his defender and took a shot to the left side of the net. It didn't faze
Jake Sudit, who kept low and scooped up the shot. Sudit was untested until a minute remaining in the contest, when off a short corner, the Mustang attacker sent a ball high to Sudit's left. Sudit made an acrobatic save, blocking the ball away with his right glove. Skeltis tried to catch the Morrisville keeper off his line for a buzzer-beater goal, but the backstop got just enough to turn it aside.
Sudit finished with four saves, while Olson,
James Bird, and Skeltis recorded 90 minutes in the field. Skeltis put up four shots, two on goal, both team-highs.
Next Saturday at 2 p.m., Bard will face its first Liberty League foe, Hobart, in Geneva, N.Y.
