ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Bard College women's tennis team was closer to the RIT Tigers than the scores suggested on Sunday, falling 1-6.
The doubles teams were feisty, taking leads in multiple games during the match. At No. 1 doubles, Paige Houghton and Catherine Chapel dropped the set 0-6. Jesse Radzik and Lisa Kyrtoka earned a game at No. 2 doubles. The Raptors' No. 3 doubles team of Lola Greene and Sienna Roveda won by forfeit.
Houghton had to withdraw due to injury after four games at No. 1 singles. Chapel had some success getting into longer rallies, winning a game in the first set at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, Radzik was unable to scratch across a game.
Patricia Santos ran down a ton of balls at No. 4 singles to no avail. At No. 5 singles, Kyrtoka was gritting it out until the end, allowing her to take three games in each set. Bard won No. 6 singles by forfeit.
