ITHACA, N.Y. — The Bard College men's tennis team was outmatched by the Ithaca Bombers on Saturday afternoon, 0-7.
At No. 1 doubles, Nick Oh and Thanasis Kostikas were able to get a game. At No. 2 doubles, Blake Kendall and Faisal Jones were unable to get in rhythm, as Ithaca was clobbering serves. The Bombers also took six straight games from Ciaran Chamberlain and Peter Trimble at No. 3 doubles.
Oh broke once, getting a game from Ithaca's No. 1 singles player. At No. 2 singles, Kostikas was the last Raptor on court for the second match in a row, battling hard for a game in set one. At No. 3 singles, Kendall had a heroic effort and reached deuce multiple times in each set, earning a game.
At No. 4 singles, Jones attempted to get on the front foot with his serve plus-one, but struggled on return. Trimble won a game at No. 5 singles and was close to coming through in back-to-back deuce games in the second set. Chamberlain played loosely at No. 6 singles and was returning well.
Bard plays at RIT tomorrow at 10 a.m.
