ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bard College baseball team picked up a key Liberty League win on Friday afternoon, defeating Union 6-4 in the opening game of the series at Honey Field, and celebrated their two seniors: Kane Morgan and Graham Marshall

Morgan started on the mound today, going eight innings, with three strikeouts. Graham Williams came in as relief in the ninth inning and struck out two, getting his first save of the season. Angus Lunt-Woodward came in clutch, going 3-of-4, with an RBI triple and two runs. Jack Burcell came in later in the game and went 2-for-3, while Elias Grosfoguel led the team with two RBIs, and Xavier Webb drew two walks.

Union struck first with a run in the opening inning and added single runs in the second, third, and fourth to keep pressure on Bard. The Raptors responded immediately in the bottom of the first, as Lunt-Woodward delivered an RBI triple to right field line, before Elias Grosfoguel followed with an RBI single to give Bard a 2-1 lead.

After Union tied the game in the second and briefly regained the lead in the third, Bard answered with a decisive three-run third inning. The rally was sparked by patience at the plate and aggressive baserunning, eventually leading to runs scoring on a bases-loaded walk and a Union error that pushed Bard ahead 5-3.
Morgan settled in from there, tossing eight innings while allowing four runs (three earned) and working out of multiple jams to keep the Raptors in front. Union added an unearned run in the fourth to cut the deficit to one, but Bard's pitching and defense held firm over the middle innings to maintain the 5-4 edge. Morgan went 1-2-3 in the sixth and seventh inning and held the Garnet Chargers scoreless after they scored their fourth run in the fourth inning.

Bard created some breathing room in the eighth inning when Hall came around to score on a sacrifice fly from Grosfoguel, extending the lead to 6-4. That insurance run proved important, as Union threatened in the ninth, but Williams shut the door with a scoreless inning to earn the save.

It is the first time since 2022 that the Raptors has had double-digit wins. Bard totaled 11 hits as a team and capitalized on six walks to generate offense.

The Raptors will look to carry the momentum into the remainder of the series as they head to Union tomorrow for a doubleheader, with the first pitch at noon.
