ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bard College women's tennis team got three wins but couldn't seal a fourth in a tight match against the Marywood Pacers on Tuesday afternoon, 3-4.
At No. 1 doubles, Paige Houghton and Catherine Chapel went down 0-4 before clawing back and taking six straight games to win 6-4. At No. 2 doubles, Sienna Roveda and Lola Greene fought valiantly, dropping the set 0-6. Marywood took No. 3 doubles, as Patricia Santos and Lisa Kyrtoka nearly completed a comeback from 2-5 down.
At No. 1 singles, Houghton won after saving two match points in the third set tiebreak, 6-4, 3-6, 11-9. Chapel also brought the energy but fell 4-6, 1-6. At No. 3 singles, long rallies ended up favoring the Pacers, as Santos was overcome, 3-6, 3-6.
At No. 4 singles, Roveda was taken down 1-6, 1-6. At No. 5 singles, Jesse Radzik got her fifth win of the season and first at the fifth spot, 3-2 (retirement). Kyrtoka battled at No. 6 singles, ending with a clutch 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory.
The Raptors embark on a road trip this weekend, traveling to Ithaca on Saturday for a 3 p.m. match.
