Cuffy-Scott sets career-high 31 points

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Bard College men's basketball team dropped a competitive fight against Ithaca, 91-74, on Friday night at Stevenson Athletic Center. 


Bard and Ithaca were side by side in the opening 20 minutes, with the Raptors only trailing by five points at the half. A tight contest with Bard answering back and keeping a small trail against Ithaca. Azikiwe Cuffy-Soctt and Lucas Tovar led the scoring with Cuffy-Scott scoring 15 points in the first half, shooting 7-of-8. While Tovar added six points with four assists. 

After the break, Bard quickly went on a 7-0 run to take a 42-39 lead. Both teams went back and forth, but after the three-pointer by Seth Dyer to make it 51-49, Ithaca went on a 14-5 run to take a 63-56 lead. The Raptors kept battling back and with 10 minutes left to go, Bard was only down by four points. The Bombers took advantage of a 12-4 run to take a 12-point lead with 6:21 left to go. Ithaca went on a 6-0 run to extend the lead and ultimately took home the victory. 

Cuffy-Scott's career-high 31 points (shot 13-of-17 from the field) is the first 30-piece since Elliot Harris scored 31 points against RIT back on December 3, 2021. He added six rebounds, a block, and an assist. Tovar tallied up eight assists, three rebounds, and three steals. Angelos Bratakos added six points, while Jalen Umstead added seven points in 14 minutes of playing. Sam Gibbs contributed eight points, four rebounds, and two assists, while Seth Dyer added four rebounds and two points. 

Bard will be back tomorrow to close out their home game schedule against Union at 4 p.m.
