The Bard College men's soccer team tested the RPI Engineers, 0-2 on Wednesday evening.
RPI opened the scoring in the 6th minute on the first shot of the game by either team. Bard generated a pair of corners at the 10:30 mark and the 10:52 mark, getting two shots off. The first was from
Henry Skeltis, and the second was from
Brandon Alchy, who was stopped by the RPI goalkeeper. The next three shots were by RPI, but they were all off-target.
Mateo Betelu attempted to score in the 28th minute, but his shot went out right. With 12 seconds left, the Engineers drew a corner but nothing came of it. Bard led in corners 2-1 as a result.
Early on in the second, Bard looked to answer. The Raptors had a corner at the 47:49 mark which led to a
Luca Costanzo shot and a Frankie Pereira-Modica shot on goal. Despite the pressure from another corner in the 51st minute, RPI kept the Raptors scoreless.
Jake Sudit had a save a minute later to prevent a successful counter attack. Sudit was tested again on back-to-back shots at the 71:48 mark and the 72:11 mark.
Aren Andrews attempted a shot with 4:14 remaining, and that was the last opportunity Bard had to tie it. RPI scored a late goal with less than 10 seconds left to make it 2-0.
Sudit finished with three saves, and Skeltis,
Emmett Olson, and
Evan Baukol played all 90 minutes.
The Raptors continue their road trip on Saturday at 2 p.m., when they face Clarkson.
