RECAP: Men’s Soccer Plays Clarkson to a 1-1 Tie

Betelu with an equalizer goal

The Bard College men's soccer team brought the fire, earning its first Liberty League point of the season against the Clarkson Golden Knights on Saturday afternoon on the road.

Clarkson had the first shot on goal at at the 8:16 mark, and Sudit made a save. Frankie Perera-Modica took a shot at the 19:51 mark, which was saved. Brandon Alchy's shot in the 24th minute was also saved to keep the score at 0-0. Then, Clarkson took a 1-0 lead after a blocked shot found the foot of the Golden Knights. At the 38:01 mark, Mateo Betelu attempted to find the net but was read well by the Clarkson goalkeeper.

Bard's defense continued to play well, including a stop on a pair of shots after a corner in the 54th minute. At the 59:23 mark, Betelu scored in the lower left of the net. He collected the ball from Aren Andrews to tie it at 1-1. Sudit was called on to make a save right after the kickoff, and at the 74:07 mark, he made another stop. Emmett Olson had a shot to take the lead at the 76:48 mark, but he was halted. Sudit made three more saves in the remainder of the match as Clarkson couldn't find the net. With 5 seconds left in the game, Clarkson had one more opportunity to score but Sudit was able to place enough pressure to the attacker to force the shot to go high.

Sudit finished with seven saves. Henry Skeltis, Evan Baukol, Charalambos Vattis, and Olson played all 90 minutes.
