From the 16-minute mark to the 8:04 mark, Clarkson went on a 21-7 run which was the major difference in the frame. Ten of the Golden Knights' 11 field goal attempts were from three, and all 21 points came from either beyond the arc or at the free throw line. The teams played fairly evenly throughout the rest of the period, as Clarkson had a slight edge in scoring 19-14, allowing it to lead by 16 heading into halftime, 45-29.

The game started to get away from Bard in the first 3:13, as Clarkson had a 10-0 run to make it 56-31. Two Gibbs threes in quick succession cut it to 19. With 13:09 remaining, the Golden Knights pulled away with an 11-3 run. Tovar answered shortly after with a three of his own, sparking a 13-5 Bard run in which Tovar scored seven.
