GOSHEN, N.Y. — The Bard women's tennis team hosted the William Smith Herons at the Match Point Tennis indoor facility on Saturday evening.
Bard's No. 1 doubles team of
Maya Kelly and
Paige Houghton won five games, the most that any Raptor duo has won against the Herons. They were within one game of winning the match, 5-4, but William Smith was able to secure the final three games to win, 7-5.
Lisa Kyrtoka and
Jesse Radzik also dropped their set at No. 2 doubles by just a single break, 6-4. The doubles point was clinched by William Smith, so singles action followed.
Kelly continued her run at No. 1 singles and broke new ground at that position against Liberty League foes, winning three games. At No. 2 singles,
Paige Houghton earned three games in her match. In conference play at No. 2 singles, the three games were a new best for her.
Radzik played well in the second set of her No. 5 singles match, winning three games and creating a new best against Liberty League opponents in the process. At No. 6 singles, Kyrtoka won three games, showcasing her steady improvement.
Bard hopes to host its first outdoor match against Ithaca tomorrow at 12 p.m. If weather conditions prevent outdoor play, the Raptors will return to Goshen at 4:45 p.m. to take on the Bombers.
