ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Bard College men's basketball team fell to RPI, 76-47, on Saturday afternoon at Stevenson Athletic Center.

Sam Gibbs led the team in points, with nine, hitting a career-high three shots from downtown. He added a steal, an assist, and a rebound. Lucas Tovar and Max Frei had nearly identical lines, with eight points, six rebounds, and two assists. Frei added a block, while Tovar notched a steal.

Jalen Umstead had eight points, a game-high three blocks, and a rebound. Six other players hit shots, as Klaudius Skehel and Bryce Sampah connected on threes – Sampah's first of his career. Skehel assisted a team-high three times and grabbed a pair of boards.

Seth Dyer, Konstantinos Korfiatis, Luke Ravitz, and Michael Sweeney all chipped in two points. Dyer added four rebounds. Dimitrios Zampoukas brought down four rebounds and a steal. Angelos Bratakos tallied two rebounds.

In the first half, the Raptors came out strong, shutting out the Engineers for the first 3:16, as they were able to cause turnovers to disrupt the RPI offense. Bard took a 6-2 lead in the first four minutes of the game. RPI started to get hot from behind the arc and went on a 19-7 run in the span of 10 minutes to take a 24-13 lead. With 5:47 remaining, the Raptors collectively caught fire, hitting three triples during a 9-2 run to get within four at 22-26. However, the final three minutes of the first half, RPI held Bard scoreless and pulled away, leading to a 36-24 halftime score.

Umstead started the second half with a nice screen and roll to stop the scoring drought. RPI then went on a 10-0 run over the next 3:55 to sustain a 46-26 lead. Gibbs struck back at the 15:08 mark with a triple. However, the Engineers' lead ballooned to 28 after an 11-0 run put RPI firmly in the lead. With 5:11 remaining in the game, the Raptors' reserves started to show some good signs, as an 8-0 run helped their cause. It was too little too late, as RPI came away with the win.

RPI won the turnover battle, committing only eight, while Bard had 22. This led to a 28-5 advantage in points off turnovers. Bard's bench outscored RPI's bench 21-17 in large part due to a 15-point effort in the second half.

Bard will travel to Hartwick on December 30th to conclude their 2025 games, and will be back to Liberty League play on January 3.
