The Bard College men's basketball team could not complete its comeback as Hartwick used a late push and clutch free throws Tuesday evening to hold off the Raptors, 86-83 at Lambros Arena.
Max Frei led the Raptors with 17 points, shooting 6-of-10 from the field and a 5-of-6 at the free-throw line.
Seth Dyer added 13 points, and
Jalen Umstead chipped in 11 in the competitive matchup. Bard shot 46.3 percent from the field and made 92.3 percent of its free throws, but struggled to contain Hartwick down the stretch.
Hartwick was paced by Robby Lucas' 24 points, including 5-of-8 from three-point range. The Hawks shot 50.9 percent overall and held a slight edge in rebounding, 34-32.
The game featured eight lead changes, five tied scores and big shots from both sides, but Hartwick's ability to convert key free throws in the final minutes proved decisive.
The Raptors will stay on the road as they face RPI on Saturday at 4 p.m.
