ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bard College women's tennis team won over the John Jay Bloodhounds 7-0 on Tuesday, including winning all three doubles matches without dropping a game.
At No. 1 doubles,
Maria Castro and
Natalie Lagunes paired up for the first time, getting a victory in Lagunes' debut at the top doubles spot.
Patricia Santos and
Catherine Chapel played at No. 2 doubles together and cruised to the 6-0 win. At No. 3 doubles,
Sienna Roveda and
Lisa Kyrtoka worked well together in the main action after getting some exhibition experience under their belts in prior matches.
It was the first time the Raptors won all the doubles sets without dropping a game since their 2024 season opener against Delhi.
At No. 1 singles, Castro found winners from both wings to take her third 6-0, 6-0 match win of the year. Lagunes played and won her first match at No. 2 singles, moving efficiently around the court while working her opponent side to side. At No. 3 singles, Santos was consistent from the baseline, allowing her to take her first victory at that position of her career.
At No. 4 singles, Chapel capitalized on opportunities to hit into the open court, winning their first 6-0, 6-0 match as a result. At No. 5 singles, Roveda won her first collegiate singles match, and she was able to improve from a 6-2 first set to a 6-0 second set. Kyrtoka was able to take her first singles win of the season in swift fashion, as she was the first to finish her match at No. 6 singles.
The Raptors will have their fourth straight home match on Thursday at 3 p.m., when they will face the Manhattanville Valiants.
