ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bard College women's soccer team played to a thrilling 3-3 draw against Pitt-Bradford in their home opener at Ferrari Field on Friday afternoon.
Pitt-Bradford struck first after 12 minutes play, but Bard quickly answered within two minutes when senior
Waleska Brito netted two goals, both set up by junior
Carina Cooke. The first goal came off a beautiful passing sequences from
Isabella Vinces to
Goldie Siff, who then set up Cooke to assist Brito.
Moments later, Cooke's corner kick passed the Pather's goalkeeper and into Brito's head for a powerful header into the top right corner, giving the Raptors a 2-1 lead at the half. Sophomores
Camila Sandaal and
Kaia Brady were exceptional on defense, preventing any Pather offense to come through the defensive line.
In the second half, Pitt-Bradford came out firing, scoring twice within a four-minute span to take a 3-2 lead. The Raptors fought hard to regain momentum, pushing forward in the final minutes. With just two minutes left on the clock, renowned goalkeeper Seymone Rosenburg, who shifted to an attacking role, delivered a perfectly timed pass to Brito, who completed her hat trick with a header to level the score.
The Raptors accounted for 21 shots, 11 of which were on target. The majority of the attacks came from
Mahlia Slaiby (4),
Waleska Brito (3), and
Carina Cooke (3).
Bard will travel to Purchase on September 10th for a 5:00 pm kickoff.
