ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bard College baseball team celebrated their four seniors on Friday afternoon, but the Raptors fell to Union, 16-2, at Honey Field.
Before the game started, Bard celebrated their four seniors:
Mike Hannan,
Nick Hubbe,
Michael Kurlan, and
Aidan Risse.
Bard and Union combined for 22 hits and 26 runners left on base, with the Garnet Chargers taking advantage of a 2-out situation late in the game to prevent the Raptors from scoring any more than two runs.
Leading the Raptors was
Jimmy Famularo, who had an impressive 3-5 performance with one run.
Spencer Azzara contributed two hits and two walks.
Mike Hannan's 2-RBI double in the bottom of the eighth accounted for all of Bard's scoring for the day. Bard struggled to convert opportunities into runs, leaving two runners on base in seven out of the nine innings played.
Aidan Risse started on the mound for Bard, throwing 6.0 innings and striking out five batters.
Luke Langford,
Jamie Fryer and
Cal Anna all came out of the bullpen in relief. Langford had two strikeouts in 2.0 innings pitched.
Bard will travel to Union for a doubleheader tomorrow to finish the conference series. The first pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
