The Bard baseball team fell at RPI, 22-12, in the first game of a three-game series on a windy Friday afternoon.
Bard had a strong start in the first inning with a three-run shot by
Mike Hannan for his first home run of the season. RPI answered back in the bottom to tie it up 3-3 heading into the second inning. Bard kept the offensive momentum going into the second inning, scoring four runs off a
Jimmy Famularo double, an error by RPI and an RBI single by
Gavin Gonzalez. The Raptors scored five runs in the fifth inning to reduce the deficit to 12-19, but it was not enough to come back and defeat the Engineers.
Hannan and Gonzalez each had three hits, with Gonzalez going 3-for-3 with two walks and two RBI. Hannan had three RBI, three runs and a walk.
Sam Dumper and Famularo each had three runs with Famularo adding two hits and three RBI. Dumper drew two walks.
Tony Gil Hernandez had a hit and two RBI.
Kam Naficy and
Xavier Webb both went 2-for-4 with one run each.
Kane Morgan started on the mound for the Raptors and threw 3.0 innings with five strikeouts.
Sachin Wijay threw 2.0 innings while
Luke Langford threw 1.1 innings.
Bard will host RPI for a doubleheader tomorrow. First pitch is at noon.
