Angel Obergh helped the Raptors take down CCNY, 3-1 on Tuesday night at Stevenson Athletic Center. Set scores were 25-23, 23-25, 28-26, 25-21.
Avery led the team with a double-double career-high 21 kills and 14 digs. Followed by Obergh with 15 kills, six digs and a season-high six aces. Both Raptors combined for 36 of the 73 Bard kills.
Graduate student
Quincy Ross had seven kills and hit .429 with only one error. Ross and first-year
Micah Kelleher each had four block assists. Fellow first-year
Lincoln Grisso had nine kills and added three digs. Sophomore
Georgi Chikolov added 46 assists and seven digs.
Bard and CCNY were evenly matched up in the first set, but it was the 5-1 run at 20-22 that sealed the first-set victory. The second set was no different from the first, but the Beavers edged the Raptors with back-to-back aces that tied the game up 1-1.
In the third set, the Raptors were down 19-12 but went on an 11-3 run to take a 23-22 lead. The Beavers saved two set points, but ultimately, an error from CCNY secured the third set victory for Bard. The fourth set had 11 tie scores and six lead changes, but Bard took the victory with back-to-back kills from Avery.
Bard will be back on Friday as they host #16 Hobart at 7 p.m. for their Inclusive Excellence Night.
