ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — Senior goalkeeper
Seymone Rosenberg grabbed a career-high 14 saves as the Raptors fell to RPI in their first Liberty League game at home, 6-1, on Tuesday afternoon at Ferrari Field.
RPI took an early lead in the first half, scoring the first two goals within 10 minutes of play. Bard answered with their first Liberty League goal of the season in the 12th minute. A corner taken by Bard went to the feet of
Waleska Brito. RPI saved Brito's first shot on the bottom left corner. However, the ball returned to Brito, who could then find the back of the net. Brito's goal marks her fifth goal of the season and a career-high.
The Engineers answered with another goal after three minutes to take a two-goal lead. The Raptors had two chances to find the back of the net: a left-foot 25-yard shot by
Mahlia Slaiby that just slightly went over the top of the net and a shot by
Alexandria Loner to the bottom right, which was saved. Slaiby had another opportunity to score with less than four minutes left before halftime, but the ball hit the post.
Ella Perreault also took a shot that sailed right.
In the second half, RPI found a breakaway within the first three minutes, giving them a 5-1 lead.
Carina Cooke took a shot on goal, but it was saved by RPI's goalkeeper Montero Audrey.
Rosenberg is now ranked second all-time in career saves with 240 saves, surpassing Lena James. She needs four more saves to surpass Kelsey O'Brien's 243 career saves. Her 14 saves ranks her tied for third in most saves by a Raptor goalkeeper in a game.
The Raptors' goal was their first against RPI since 2018.
Bard will be back on Saturday to take on Union at 1 p.m.
