The Bard College women's soccer team fought against VTSU Castleton in a midweek non-conference bout on Wednesday night at Dave Wolk Stadium.
Alexandria Loner had a long attempt that went left of the post in the match's first minutes after Bard kicked it off.
Seymone Rosenberg made the first of her three saves in the 10th minute, blocking Rylee Pepin. She later had two saves against Alexis Billings. She proceeded to prevent VTSU from scoring until the 39:29 mark.
In the first half, the Raptors edged ahead in the corners column, creating one while preventing VTSU from kicking any.
Waleska Brito had an opportunity to tie it at the 62:10 mark, shooting from over 20 yards away and forcing Ella Hall to make the save. The Little East Conference's third leading goal scorer, Maggie McKearin, pushed the VTSU lead to two just four minutes later. The Raptors didn't let that setback affect their energy. Their tenacity only grew, with
Mahlia Slaiby taking a powerful shot that curved just left of the goal right after the kickoff.
The Raptors and the Spartans each had three fouls in the second half, and corners were even at two.
Sandaal played all 90 minutes, breaking up passes from Spartan attackers, and Coach
Kate Hofstede used a fluid goalkeeper rotation. Rosenberg played the full 45 minutes in the first half,
McKenna Reeves came in to make two saves, and
Thayden Hamilton-Howard closed out the last 11:40 of the game.
The Raptors will conclude their season as they host Skidmore for their Senior Day on Saturday at 2 p.m.
