ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y — The Bard College women's soccer team (3-9-1, 0-4-0 Liberty League) battled against Clarkson (4-6-2, 1-3-1 Liberty League) in a Liberty League matchup on Friday night at Ferrari Field.
The Raptors settled into the match, defending their end before finding open space to set up
Senowa Leverentz on the right side. Leverentz's shot was saved by Molly DiCaprio. Clarkson's goalkeeper did not keep a clean sheet for much longer.
Waleska Brito scored the game's first goal, sending a header past DiCaprio at the 19th minute.
Maya Farwell started the action on the right side, splitting two defenders with her pass to Leverentz, who crossed it to Brito for her seventh goal. Leverentz and Farwell each recorded their second assist of the season.
The Golden Knights responded, scoring just 30 seconds after Bard. Maddie Lopol found a hole on the left side of the box and threaded the needle on her shot to the top right corner of the net.
Seymone Rosenberg made eight saves in the first half while battling the sun. The Raptors played cleanly in the first half, only fouling Clarkson three times and drawing six fouls.
Chloe Hodge, Clarkson's fourth leading points scorer, scored her second goal of the season three minutes after the start of the second half. Hodge put extra juice on the shot, causing the ball to continue into the net after Rosenberg initially blocked it with both of her hands.
The Golden Knights scored an insurance goal with 15 minutes remaining. Brooke Butler picked up her fourth goal, sending a chip shot into the open net. The assist came from Rachael Matthews.
Rosenberg played the entire game, recording 12 saves.
Tonight's game was dedicated to Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation and the team sold pink tshirts and had a raffle, with all the proceeds going to Miles of Hope.
The Raptors host St. Lawrence tomorrow at 2 p.m.
