ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y – The Bard College women's soccer team put up a strong fight against St. Lawrence in a Liberty League matchup on Saturday afternoon at Ferrari Field.
The first half started with both teams looking for an offensive opportunity and a constant change of possession and momentum. While the Saints managed to fire off the first two shots on goal, goalkeeper
Seymone Rosenberg, quickly thwarted them away. The Raptors answered back with one of their own from
Waleska Brito from the middle of the box that veered off just past the right side of the goal.
Eventually, St. Lawrence found their footing and turned up the intensity, landing their first goal close to the 19-minute mark. They kept the pressure on Bard for the rest of the half, scoring three more times due to the onslaught of shots, which the Bard defensive line did their best to counter.
In the second half, the Raptors adjusted their offensive strategy, creating double the scoring opportunities compared to the first half, with
Kaia Brady and
Mahlia Slaiby both pressuring the defense. The Saints once more found the back of the net before the final whistle. However, it wasn't without difficulty, as
McKenna Reeves stood tall in goal, making seven incredible saves to keep her team in the game.
Seymone Rosenberg started the game in goal and had 12 saves, while
McKenna Reeves came in as relief and had 7 saves.
The Raptors will be back in action on October 26th at 3:00, when they take on William Smith at Cozzens Field.
