ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Bard College men's basketball team dropped a wire-to-wire game over Clarkson, 73-66, on Friday night at Stevenson Athletic Center.
Bard (8-3, 3-1 Liberty League) and Clarkson (8-2, 3-1) combined for seven lead changes and five ties. Seniors
Elliot Harris,
Rowan Heinze and
Lazaros Panagiotounis all had double-digit points, with Heinze leading the Raptors with 18 points. Harris had 16 points and shot 4-of-6 from the three-point range, while Panagiotounis added 11 points.
Senior
Azriel Almodovar had a team-high four assists and nine rebounds. He added six points that all came in the second half. Junior
Sean Wilcox added eight points, five rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
Bard led for most of the first half, with Clarkson playing catchup. The Golden Knights were within one at 1:09, but the Raptors were able to go on a 4-0 run to take a five-point lead at the half. In the second half, Clarkson went on an 8-0 run with less than four minutes left in the game, which gave the Golden Knights a three-possession lead. The Raptors got within three after a three-pointer from Harris with less than 20 seconds left, but it was not enough to push the game to overtime.
Bard will be back tomorrow to take on St. Lawrence at 4 p.m. at Stevenson Athletic Center.
