ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Bard College Women's Soccer team fell in their conference opener against Ithaca College on Saturday afternoon.
Bard (4-2) fought hard in the first half to thwart Ithaca's fast-paced offensive attack. The Raptors gave up a goal in the 12th minute and looked to go into halftime within striking distance before the Bombers scored their second goal in the final minute of the first half to double their lead. With 30 seconds left to finish the half,
Kylie Quinn had a shot on goal, but Ithaca's goalkeeper, Grace Hickey, saved the shot, and the half ended 2-0.
Ithaca scored twice on back to back goals in the 46th minute and the 51st minute of the game, but Bard's defense held firm after that and the match ended 4-0.
Senowa Leverentz,
Waleska Brito, and Quinn gave Bard opportunities to score with their shots on goal during the second half but the Raptors couldn't break through.
Junior
Seymone Rosenberg had a great showing in goal with fifteen saves, and also was quick off her line to break up many Ithaca attacks. Ithaca had 20-4 shots on goal advantage but the Raptors were stronger offensively in the second half with nine shots total.
Bard is back at Ferrari Field this Wednesday at 6 p.m. when the team takes on crosstown rival Vassar in their second conference match of the season.
