The Bard College Women's Soccer Team claimed its second straight shutout with a 5-0 win over Brooklyn on Monday evening at Brooklyn College Athletic Field.
Bard (4-1) had a 17-1 shots-on-goal advantage, with nine Raptors taking at least one shot on goal. Senior
Kylie Quinn started the scoring for the Raptors after 15 minutes of play.
Carina Cooke, named earlier in the day to the Liberty League Women's Soccer Honor Roll, drew the Brooklyn (1-4-2) goalkeeper out and crossed it for Quinn, who finished from close range.
In the 27th minute, Kuntz doubled the Raptors advantage after being sent in on a breakaway by Cooke. With two defenders chasing, Kuntz rounded the goalkeeper and slotted the ball home for her first goal of the season, and the match went into halftime at 2-0 for the visitors.
Less than two minutes into the second half, Quinn scored her second of the game off another pass from Cooke. From the left side, Cooke crossed a ball toward the penalty spot where Quinn took it down and fired a left-footed shot into the side netting at the far post.
In the 73rd minute, junior
Waleska Brito made it three straight games with a goal, shooting a rocket from 30 yards out into the top left corner of the goal. Two minutes later, sophomore
Maya Farwell scored her second goal of the season after some excellent passing in tight quarters from Brito and Cooke. After a back heel from Brito, Cooke snuck past a defender and laid the ball off for Farwell to shoot home with her first touch.
Seymone Rosenberg and the Raptors defense kept a second straight shutout, with Rosenberg making one save to keep the clean sheet.
Bard will carry a three-game winning streak into its Liberty League opener, hosting Ithaca on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Ferrari Field.
