RECAP: Men’s Soccer cruises past Sarah Lawrence

Raptors get goals from four different scorers in shutout victory

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. --- The Bard Men's Soccer Team earned a 4-0 victory over Sarah Lawrence on Ferrari Field on Thursday night, dominating the match in front of a raucous home crowd.

Sam Gerber maintained his hot start to the season with his third goal in as many games, and the defense and goalkeeper Gavin Hersey kept a second straight shutout. With the win, the Raptors move to 3-0 on the season and will travel to Northern Vermont University-Johnson on Saturday looking to extend the winning streak.

Bard had control of the game early but the Gryphons' defense held firm, blocking several shots before the Raptors finally broke through in the 25th minute. Cole Ewalt placed a corner kick perfectly and senior captain Nick Agugliaro headed in his first goal of the season to give Bard the lead.

Ten minutes later, fellow captain Dylan Kotlowitz crossed a ball into the box and found Gerber, who calmly slotted his shot into the lower corner from 12 yards. Gerber, who was named Liberty League Offensive Player of the Week in the opening week of the season, has scored in each of Bard's games this season.

In the second half, Bard continued to press the Sarah Lawrence defense, and added a third goal 12 minutes into the second session through a moment of brilliance from Frankie Perera-Modica. The first-year received the ball 20 yards out, took a touch inside, and drilled a shot off the underside of the crossbar and just over the goal line. It was Perera-Modica's second goal of his young career.

The scoring finished with Jamie Coequyt's first collegiate goal with just under five minutes to play. Receiving a perfect through ball from Brandon Alchy, Coequyt touched the ball past a defender and the goalkeeper to slot into the empty net.

Bard will travel on Friday and play at NVU-Johnson on Saturday, with kickoff scheduled for 3pm in Vermont.
