ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Bard College women's volleyball team charged to victory on Tuesday night at Stevenson Athletic Center, sweeping past SUNY Delhi 3-0. Set scores were 25-15, 25-21, 25-22.
Bard (3-7) were led by senior
Ryan Lum and sophomore
Nyla Lawrence, who combined for 18 kills. Lawrence tied her career high of eight kills with one error and had a .389 hit efficiency, while Lum had her third double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs, and also added three aces.
Senior
Adi David had 17 assists and added three kills. David also had five aces, just one shy of her career-high. Sophomore
Becca Wintjen had a career-high 11 assists, and classmate
Abi Batingan added seven kills and only had two errors for a hit .333 efficiency. Seniors
Puja Clements and
Annie Couey combined for 14 digs on the defensive end.
The Raptors took a 12-5 lead in the opening set and never looked back. Bard had a dominant first set with a .400 hitting percentage, while SUNY Delhi (1-4) hit .048 with five errors. The second set featured 10 tie scores and five lead changes, with the Raptors coming out on top 25-21.
The Raptors took an 8-3 lead in the third set, but the Broncos fought back and narrowed the score to 22-20. A kill from Lawrence and a service ace from David earned the Raptors a match point. Batingan finished the set and secured the victory with a kill.
Bard return to action on Saturday when it hosts Albertus Magnus at noon and Purchase at 4 p.m. at Stevenson Athletic Center.
