DAVENPORT, Fla. – Bard's offense had a great start to the team's spring trip as the Raptors split a doubleheader against Old Westbury on Saturday.
The Raptors posted double-digit runs in both games, losing 14-11 in the first before taking a 10-5 win in Game 2.
In the first game, Bard smashed three home runs, with one each from
Nick Hubbe,
Mike Hannan, and
Aidan Risse. For Hannan, it was the fifth of his career, and it was the first for both Hubbe and Risse.
Jared Toby went 3-for-3 with a walk and three RBI as Bard led 10-4 going into the 6th inning but lost the lead late.
In Game 2, the top of the lineup dominated, with the 1-4 hitters going a combined 8-for-12 and scoring 9 of Bard's 10 runs. Toby was again perfect from the plate, going 2-for-2, but it was
Jake Stacey who led the way with six RBI, including a 3-run homer, the second of his career, which extended the Raptors' lead to 10-3 in the 6th inning.
First-year
Kane Morgan earned the win for Bard, throwing five innings and allowing just one earned run, and
Bryan Reed earned the save in two innings of work.
The Raptors are back in action on Sunday with another doubleheader, facing Elmhurst University in Auburndale, Fla. with first pitch at 2pm.
