UTICA, N.Y. - The Bard College women's volleyball team picked up its first victory of the 2022 season on Saturday, as part of a tri-match at SUNY Polytechnic.
Bard lost to Utica, 3-1, in its first match of the day, then swept the hosts, 25-16, 26-24 and 25-16.
"A great team effort overall and I was very proud of how we competed," said Bard coach
Lindsey Veersma, who picked up her first career coaching win. "The sideline hype really helped us prevail in the second match."
Against Utica,
Ryan Lum led Bard with 15 kills, eight digs and six aces.
Emily Hall Smith added eight kills and 14 digs;
Adi David had 27 assists and 14 digs; and first year
Ella Small led the team with 18 digs.
In the win over SUNY Poly, first year
Nyla Lawrence had eight kills and hit .385; Lum had seven more kills and 17 digs, and David finished with 24 more assists and added six aces.
Bard next hosts Saint Elizabeth University on Tuesday night.
