ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's tennis team lost to Ramapo College, 5-4, in a non-league match on Wednesday.
Bard prevailed at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles with the pairs of
Nico Gusac/
Maya Kelly and
Bella Ries/
Paige Houghton, so the Raptors needed three points from the singles matches to pull out a victory.
They got two. Houghton won at No. 5 singles, and
Victoria Bagatcholon prevailed in a tiebreaker to win No. 6 singles, but the Roadrunners took the other four matches to hold Bard off.
"The first and second doubles team played really great points, so we got off to a good start," Bard coach Roge Nesbitt said. "We won at 5 and 6 but needed to win another tiebreaker."
Bard last match of the fall portion of the season will be at home on Oct. 8, vs. Hunter.
