ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's volleyball team lost to William Paterson University, 3-0, in the season opener for both teams on Thursday night.
The visiting Pioneers prevailed 25-16, 25-17, and 25-10.
"I think the first game nerves got the best of us," Bard coach
Lindsey Veersma said, "but there were definitely good moments. We saw some good things from our first years off the bench and had some big kills. Just need to put it all together."
Bard got six kills from
Emily Hall Smith, and
Precious Star had five kills and hit .556.
Adi David led the team with 16 assists and she added eight digs.
Ryan Lum also had eight digs, while
Puja Clements and
Ella Small added seven digs apiece.
The Raptors next hit the road for a tri-match with Utica at SUNY Polytechnic on Saturday.
