ITHACA, N.Y. - The Bard College baseball team lost both ends of a Liberty League doubleheader on Saturday, falling to Ithaca 4-3 and 3-2.
Bard got excellent starting pitching from
Spencer Checkoway and
Aidan Risse, but just couldn't push enough runs across the plate. All three games in the series were determined by one run. Bard won the opener, 9-8, on Friday.
"We got good starts from Checkoway and Risse," Bard coach
Andy Salvatore said. "They gave us a good chance to win. They were both good, tight games, but Ithaca just out-executed us."
Jared Toby went 4-for-6 in the doubleheader with a double, one RBI and a pair of stolen bases.
Jordan Myers went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two walks and two runs scored.
Jake Stacey drove in a pair of runs in Game 1, and Risse game up just two runs and struck out seven over seven innings in Game 2.
Bard will take on Union in a three-game set next weekend, two on Saturday in Schenectady, and one on Sunday at Honey Field.
"We are excited to get back to work this week," Salvatore said.
