ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's volleyball team opened the 2022 season with a 3-0 victory over Sage, and a 3-0 loss to New Jersey City University. It had been 687 days since Bard last played a match.
"It was just great to play again," Bard coach
Adam Niemczynowicz said. "We waited so long and I was happy that we were able to play together and see where we are."
Bard swept Sage behind 11 kills from first year
Ty McGlynn, who was playing in his first college match.
Mike Lynch had eight digs and
Josh Kim distributed 17 assists.
Quincy Ross had five blocks.
Against defending Skyline Conference champion NCJU, McGlynn and
Angel Obergh each just missed producing double-doubles. McGlynn had 11 kills and nine digs, while Obergh had nine kills and 11 digs. Kim handed out 22 assists.
"We played a really good team and faced some adversity, and we got a chance to see some things that we have to work on," Niemczynowicz said. "But overall it was a great day to play and we saw a lot of positive things."
Bard next travels to Wilkes College on Saturday for a tri-match with Mount Aloysius.
