TROY, N.Y. - Bard College sophomore
Ryan Lum has earned All-Liberty League Honorable Mention from the league's coaches, it was announced Wednesday.
"Ryan has been a steady presence in our gym all season and I'm excited for her that her contributions have been recognized by the coaches of the Liberty League," Bard coach
Stefanie Carrington said. "Ryan adds so much to our program and she does it in a variety of ways. She led our team defensively and tallied more digs per game than any other outside hitter in the league. She's incredibly resourceful as a attacker and she's able to find ways to score that keep opponents frustrated game after game. She's potentially the biggest threat when she's at the service line. The aces she scores are reflected in the season stats but, beyond that, she forces our opponents out of system more than anyone else which boosts our defensive conversion opportunities big time."
Lum led Bard in both kills and digs, and she made the Liberty League Weekly Honor Roll once and was the Rookie of the Week once. Her 20 kills were key to Bard's historic first Liberty League victory over Union on Sept. 24.
"She works really hard every time she sets foot in the gym and she's helped set the tone for the next chapter of Bard Volleyball," Carrington continued. "She's deserving of this honor and I'm really proud that she's been recognized so early in her career. I look forward to what she will achieve in the next two years!"
