ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bard College women's volleyball team fell to the Skidmore Thoroughbreds in their home Liberty League and Dig Pink match on Saturday at Stevenson Athletic Center, 11-25, 22-25, 15-25.

Paola De La Cruz led the team with 20 assists, adding six digs, two aces, and two kills. Penelope Joosten Lingo posted 13 digs, four assists, and an ace. Isis Pribble recorded 11 kills, five digs, a block and an ace. Xenia Vassou collected three kills and a block.

Adrianna Howell recorded three digs. Alex Beer tallied five kills, four digs, two assists, and a block. Nala Roman put up a stat line of eight kills, five digs, two blocks, and an assist. Gia Gomez chipped in two blocks and a kill.

Bard held a 3-1 lead in the first set with the assistance of two kills from Beer. A 5-1 Skidmore run made it 6-4. The Raptors tied it at 6-6 after a kill from De La Cruz and an ace from Rhinehart. Five straight from the Thoroughbreds forced a Bard timeout. Later, at 14-7, Pribble slammed through back-to-back kills, and De La Cruz added an ace. However, Skidmore had an 11-1 run to finish the frame.

Pribble notched two early kills followed by a Roman kill for a 3-2 Bard edge. Skidmore won seven of the next ten points for a 9-6 advantage. A Gomez kill cut the deficit to one at 10-9, but a 6-2 Skidmore run followed. The Raptors won six of the next seven points to tie it at 17-17. The set hung in the balance, and four straight went to the Thoroughbreds. Bard trimmed the lead to one, capped off by back-to-back blocks featuring Gomez. Skidmore closed it out on its second set point.

The Throughbreds stormed out to a 12-2 lead in the third and never looked back. At 18-6, the Raptors had a 6-2 run, making it 21-14, but four of the final five points went to Skidmore.

The Raptors travel to Vassar on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
