Women's volleyball team downed by New Paltz at Skidmore

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The Bard College women's volleyball team lost to SUNY New Paltz, 3-0, on Friday, the first day of the Skidmore Invitational.

Set scores for New Paltz were 25-15, 25-16 and 25-11.

"Our defense and serve receive were solid tonight which helped us generate a lot of swings, but we weren't able to convert them into points at a high enough rate," Bard coach Stefanie Carrington said. "I was enthused by the adjustments they made to generate offense as we continued the match though, and we'll look to continue that trend tomorrow."

Bard got six kills from Laurel Edwards, eight digs from Puja Clements and 13 assists from Adi David.

"Anna Skamser did a great job being a disciplined blocker at the net tonight and she was swinging really well, too." Carrington said. "Puja Clements provided a mental spark for the team. She brought the perfect combination of calm focus and determined energy which the team was able to feed off of."

The Skidmore Invitational continues on Saturday, and it will be Bard's last day of the season. The Raptors play Sage and Oswego in Saratoga.
