Raptors wrap up Liberty League play against RIT

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's volleyball team lost to Rochester Institute of Technology, 3-0, in a Liberty League match on Saturday. It was Bard's final conference match of the 2021 season.

Set scores for the Tigers (23-2) were 25-16, 25-18 and 25-15.

"Our team played one of our best matches of the season today against the now-undefeated regular season Liberty League Champions," Bard coach Stefanie Carrington said. "We were well prepared for what RIT would be throwing at us, and we feel good about the ways in which we were able to slow them down.

"Reflecting back on the full conference season has me feeling proud and optimistic about our future," Carrington added. "We've achieved a lot since this year's senior class first set foot on campus and we're in a way better position than ever before. Knowing that we're returning the bulk of our team for the next couple of years is exciting. I can't wait to see where these student-athletes take the program by the time they graduate."

Precious Star led Bard with six kills, two blocks and a .600 hitting percentage. Ryan Lum had six digs, and Puja Clements had seven assists.

"Precious Star made herself known by putting together a really impressive performance at the net," Carringtons said. "It was statistically her best offensive effort of the year with 2 kills per set and an amazing .600 hitting percentage. To do that against a team as strong and present as RIT is really something special. Ryan Lum, Morenike Fabiyi, and Annie Couey were a triple threat from behind the service line as well; they did such a good job of forcing our opponents out of system consistently."

Next up for Bard is the final home match of the 2021 season, against Cobleskill on Wednesday night. It'll be Senior Night for Morenike Fabiyi.

"We feel really good going into the final week of our season and hope to be able to sustain the level we've been playing over the last two matches as we finish out against some really competitive non-conference competition," Carrington said.
